These words are more than just a slogan to the team at Rush Memorial Hospital. Based on recent survey responses, our patients love the care that we provide at RMH and have seen first-hand the impact that the commitment to service excellence has had on RMH. Recent HCAHPS survey results showed that patients rate RMH highly in both patient safety and satisfaction.

HCAHPS stands for the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. The HCAHPS survey is a national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care. Each month a random sample of patients who were recently discharged from an inpatient stay are surveyed on their most recent experience. The survey measures patient perspective of critical aspects of the hospital experience including, but not limited to: communication with nurses and doctors, responsiveness of hospital staff, care transition, cleanliness of the hospital environment, and recommendation of the hospital to future patients. Each patient surveyed must have a discharge date ranging from 48 hours to six weeks prior to the administration of the survey. Administering the survey in this time frame ensures that the experience is fresh in the mind of the patient being surveyed. The higher the HCAHPS score, the better the quality of care received by patients. With RMH receiving scores above the national average, patients can find comfort in knowing that exceptional care can be found right here in Rush County.

It is important to note that our patients are not the only ones who are enjoying their experience at RMH. A recent workplace safety survey also found that employees at RMH have a high opinion of the safety and overall experience of Rush Memorial Hospital as well. Having a team that feels safe and valued allows RMH to operate efficiently and effectively, which is a tremendous benefit to the patients in our care.
