In the second part of our sepsis series, Director of Surgery Summer LeSar talks about the warning signs of sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when the body has an extreme reaction to an infection. Summer explains that 80% of sepsis cases begin in the home and 30% of severe sepsis cases end in death. She encourages patients and their families to look for signs of sepsis when an infection is suspected and seek medical help when they appear.
