RMH Achieves ACR Gold Seal Accreditation in Mammography

Commitment to quality imaging and safety

Rush Memorial Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

Jennifer Cupp, RMH Director of Imaging, shared her pride in the team’s achievement, stating:
“Our mammography team has once again received the Mammography ACR accreditation. The team’s unwavering commitment ensures our patients receive safe, accurate, and the highest quality of care.”

Brad Smith, RMH CEO & President, emphasized the significance of this recognition:
“This accreditation is a clear reflection of our promise to the community. It means every patient who comes to Rush Memorial Hospital can feel confident knowing their care meets the highest standards for safety and quality. Our Imaging team works hard to ensure that trust is earned every single day.”

Carrie Tressler, RMH CNO/VP of Nursing, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the achievement:
“This recognition reflects the incredible teamwork within our Imaging Department. Every member of the team works together to make sure patients receive the best care possible, and this accreditation shows their dedication to doing things right.”

Importantly, the ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards. The process includes a peer review by board-certified physicians and medical physicists. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported back to the facility and provide the practice with a detailed report that report that supports continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.
