Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Rush Memorial Hospital’s full-service hospital-based laboratory serves inpatient and Emergency Department needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Laboratory services are also available to physicians’ offices, nursing homes, employers, outpatients and homebound patients.
Laboratory services include Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Serology and limited Microbiology. The facility is equipped with the latest instrumentation and staffed with a highly experienced team of Technologists and Phlebotomists. Special capabilities include rapid diagnosis of less commonly encountered diseases and viruses such as Influenza, RSV, C. difficile (diarrhea), HIV and Mononucleosis, to name just a few.
Outpatient services include routine blood collection from all age groups, therapeutic phlebotomy collections, drug screen collections and breath alcohol testing.
Registering for laboratory services is fast and easy. Bring your physician’s order and insurance card. Standing orders are maintained in the lab so routine, monthly lab work can be performed in an express manner. Outpatients may present to the registration clerk in Admissions.
