RMH Purchases Second UVC Disinfection Device

RMH Purchases Second UVC Disinfection Device

At RMH, keeping our patients safe is our top priority. In 2019 we began using cutting edge, UVC light technology to disinfect high priority areas. UVC disinfection, which follows traditional cleaning, is a second layer of protection for our patients. Our UVC disinfection initiative has been so successful, that RMH has recently purchased a second UVC device, the Moonbeam, by Diversey.

The Moonbeam, unlike the much larger Tru-D “robot”, is small and easily portable.  Its purpose is to disinfect areas that are too small for Tru-D, or are separate from the main hospital building, where Tru-D is located. With the new Moonbeam UVC disinfection device, our EVS staff is now able to treat exam rooms in all of our outbuildings, including Healthcare Associates, Walk-In Care, Pediatrics and Pain Management. Moonbeam can even be used to treat our patient shuttle and ambulance.

UVC disinfection is one of the most innovative and effective ways to prevent infection. This unique technology penetrates areas in ways that traditional cleaning cannot, destroying the genetic material of bacteria and viruses. We are proud to add another UVC device to our “cleanliness and safety” toolbox.
